A few weekends ago, a careless smoker threw out a lit cigarette butt into a bar-ditch filled with dry, dead grass. The grass was so dry and the wind was kicking up to 50 MPH. Within minutes the neighborhood was consumed in flames. Fire officials estimate around 50 acres of land was burned. Luckily, no one was hurt and only a few animals were injured.
Seeing a small grass fire turn into a raging blaze really makes you think about how your actions can affect the world around you.
